A few things she's been doing...
*Talking more and more. "muh and buh" still seem to be her favorite fall back answers but she does know all the sounds for her animals (so far...cow, horse, monkey, camel, lizard, pig, snake, gorilla, sheep, fish, chicken (probably her favorite), dog) she also recognizes a lot of animals/objects and can point them out/find them when asked. She says: dada, mum, papa, nana, grandmpa, grandma, milk, byebye, hello, num num (food/yummy), more, uhoh, uh uh, blankie, button, hot, dog. (Of course...many of these are only understood by mom and dad.) And she can say anything she wants with her facial expressions and body language. She definitely communicates with her eyes. She will try to copy you if you tell her to say something and at least gets the syllables right and usually the first letter.
*Understanding everything. She doesn't miss a thing.
*Feeding herself. I guess she's been doing this for a while...but she is getting really good with a fork. She loves to "dip dip" anything. She's also doing pretty good at drinking out of a cup all by herself. (Also been doing this for a while...but is doing much better at setting it down when she's done-rather than tossing it) She is not picky and likes most everything. Her favorites change week to week. But currently, bananas (actually allll fruit) are at the top of her list--along with chocolate, of course, and a sip of dad's pop when she is really lucky (and mom's not looking).
*Practicing with makeup (As evidenced by the eyeliner picture above). She brings mom the make up bag almost every morning...just in case she has forgotten.
*Wearing sunglasses. (She likes that she finally has some so she can be cool like her daddy)
*Coloring. A few weeks ago she came running around the corner, full speed, with a huge grin on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. She grabbed my index finger (like she does when she needs to show me something), said mum mum mum, and pulled me to the back hallway. As soon as we got there she pointed at the newly colored wall, smiling from ear to ear, with her eyes wide open, saying look what I did! She couldn't have been more proud of her artwork.
It's still there.
I know someday, when its permanent marker and not colored pencils, it won't be so cute...but I smile everytime I see it.
*Loves her baby and stuffed animals. She is starting to play on her own a little more. Likes to stack and knock things over, Put things in and out of buckets/bowls, push trains and cars, "read" in the rocking chair. Loves to be quized about her animals. What is this...what does this say...Find the....?
*Dancing. She also loves to spin and spin and spin until she falls over.
*Giving kissing. I get so many in a day. It is the best. She also loves to blow kisses to anyone. And it is rare when she says bye and doesn't blow a kiss afterwards. (Even if she is just walking to the other part of the room.)
*Running, Trotting, Prancing, Jumping (or trying to jump, anyway), Teasing, Back-pedaling, Climbing
*She still lives to be outside. We go on a lot of walks. (a great way to put her to sleep too) We have been enjoying the warmer weather this spring and can't wait for summer! She also loves the rain. I need to get a picture of her in her cute little rain jacket. She knows exactly what it means when we put it on her. She tells us its raining by patting her hair and pointing outside, because she loves how it gets her hair all wet.
*She is very aware and cautious of things that are "owies," which I love. You definitely don't have to tell her twice if there is something that will hurt her. You tell her "Watch out that will hurt, there is an owie, hot, that will bite..." and she stops dead in her tracks and/or backpedals. She also will remind you the rest of the day...or week...about what we should not touch or do. ...We don't burn candles too often at our house because every 5 minutes she tells us, uh uh uh! hot! She is very concerned and protective, it is cute. She also understands yuck, and communicates it by sticking her tongue out and saying "puh"and scrunching her face up to show it is disgusting.
*She loves baths more than ever. And will get her little blow up tub out and sit in it when she's ready for one. I have to be careful when I'm filling the tub up because she will climb in-undressed or not.
*Loves to read stories and look at books. It melts my heart when she brings my a book and unfolds my legs and takes things off my lap so she can climb up and snuggle. I'm lucky because she does this a lot
*Loves things with lids-especially Vaseline. a mess!
*Starting to like to help cook.
*Loves when she gets to talk on the phone. Especially to Daddy.
*She has a fascination with the prophet. She loves to look at Pres. Monson's picture. It is cute. She randomly runs over to it and says "prah-pet"
*Thinking about potty training. ...Mom isn't quite ready to totally dive in-but it won't be long :)

*This was actually taken over a month ago--just 13 months old. She really has done a great job and would probably be close to ready if her mom could be consistent. (The first day we tried she went everytime we tried and had a dry diaper for almost the whole day.) You can tell she is pretty proud :) Her favorite reward when she is succesful(which she is most of the time) is to blow bubbles.
Today we had a wonderful day "out on the town." We spent the morning at temple square (where she got to run on the grass, look at the flowers, play with some kids, and blow lots and lots of kisses at the statue of Joseph Smith), then some shopping, playing outside in the warm weather, lunch with Daddy, food at wholefoods, a long walk, and a relaxing night.

15 month Stats:
22.69 pounds (48th percentile)
30 inches (35th percentile)
(although I think the nurse stole a little height from her when she measured...so maybe closer to 31?)

Great update! She is really growing up. I'm still laughing at how she was cussing the black stool last weekend for falling over on her. She is very expressive and full of wonder and energy. We love her!
xoxo
Oh Lindsey! She's a doll:) I love her pig tails. I love the story about her wall art. It reminds of when Cooper was little and just learning to write. He wrote on the wall in permanent marker "I Love Mom" Now how do i get mad at that? It stayed on the wall until the day moved:)
wow blowing bubbles is a genius idea for a reward! i'm planning on doing the fun "no life for a week because i'm potty training my child!" at the end of this month so thanks for the idea! she has the cutest little expressions- sure wish we lived closer to each other!
