December '09

My very good friend, Alycia, and her mom and sisters (Diana, Lindsay, and Anna) threw us a baby shower. We were very very spoiled.   They went over the top with delicious homemade treats and made an adorable baby quilt. We love it!  They are one of the most amazing families I know and I feel very blessed to count them among my friends.  It was a very fun night! Thank You THANK YOU thank you for everything!

We had a fun evening setting up our tree and decorating for the holidays.  Every year we've done a real tree--but this year we were boring and borrowed a little fake one.  Not quite the same, but still fun. My family has a tradition that each person gets a new ornament every year.  I LOVE unpacking them and thinking back on when I got them and the memories of that year.  This little christmas tree made out of macaroni noodles, paint, and glitter is one of my very favorites.  I made it in kindergarten.  Growing up, I remember rolling my eyes when my mom made me hang it on the tree each year--but now it makes me smile everytime I see it.  I also love nativity sets.  We have started a small collection. And aren't those little santas the cutest thing you've ever seen? My mom made them and my dad made the frame--they are SO talented.

While we were decorating the tree we found some old letters in one of the boxes.  Jake had a fun time reading through all the silly ones that my friends had written me in high school.  One of our favorites was this one from Cami.  (Sorry, Cami, if I freaked out when you borrowed something. haha...and I probably owe you a few of these too. Thanks for letting me borrow your stuff too :)

We spent an evening last week walking around Temple Square.  It was very chilly but the lights were beautiful!

On December 16, we got to pick up Brady, Dani, and Liam from the airport! We miss them so much and have been counting down the days until we got to see them.  Liam is the funniest little boy I know--we were lucky enough to have the three of them to ourselves for one night. We hope these next couple of weeks go by slow.  We will be eating up every minute. We sure love our family!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We started out our thanksgiving week with a very fun night of toffee making and elf watching.

Wednesday night we headed over to Tremonton to enjoy the weekend with the Christensen family.

Later that night, the extended family came over for games and dessert. Lots of pies AND some homemade icecream! Grandpa Elmo is THE best at cards...his specialty? Pinochle.  He is a great coach and is SO much fun to play with!

This little guy is jake's nephew, Dallin. He is a chunk.  He is cute.  It was fun to get to visit with his parents for a little bit.

The rest of the weekend we played hard! Bowling, Movies, a Trip down to Ogden with Grandpa, fetch with Gus, party at Uncle Blain's, and lots of yummy leftover eating. It was a lot of fun to spend the whole weekend with family.

Itty Bitty Baby Shoes

My mom is SO talented.  She made these adorable little baby shoes for our little girl.  I can't wait to get them on her tiny little feet.  (only 39 more days :) ...if shes on time)  On the next picture you can see the cute silk flowers she put on them a little clearer.  Absolutely darling!  Thanks mom! We LOVE them!

I decided to attempt to make a little beanie for her on the car ride over thanksgiving.  For not having a pattern I think it turned out alright.  They look kinda cute together :)

Baby Shower

My Grandma Flinders hosted a very fun baby shower for us.  It was so fun to get together with most all of the girls on my mom's side of the family (and Grandma Firth)! We played a fun game and enjoyed lots of visiting, laughing, a yummy lunch, and delicious desserts.  They also compiled a book of  "motherly advice." I loved it! So many great suggestions and thoughts...Here are a few:

*enjoy the little things   *don't let a day pass by that you don't express your love for her  *don't drop your baby  *a child may not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel   *time spent in a rocking chair is never wasted time  *fede it  *buy bib shirts   *think about her being on loan to you from your loving Heavenly Father, it puts things in perspective *take a shower every day    *aunts are the best babysitters   *get a carsete for it  *take lots of photos/videos, keep a journal  *sleep when the baby sleeps  *don't forget to dote on jake

We are very spoiled to have such amazing family!

Disneyland

I was lucky enough to get to go to Disneyland with my mom and little sisters.  Last minute trips are the best!  It was quite the roadtrip...and so much fun to surprise our cousins, and celebrate Cami's birthday.  It was a blast to have some girl bonding time...but we missed Janell and Danielle a ton and wished they could have been there with us.  (I'm counting down the days til I get to see them both at Christmas time)
It had been 10 years since I had been there---and I already can't wait to go back with Jake and our little one. Even though I couldn't go on ALL the rides...I couldn't have had more fun. And, I was even able to sneak on to splash mountain (one of my very favorite rides) and she loved it...kickin' and squirmin' around the whole time.  It will be fun to go again when I get to carry her around in my arms...and not my tummy.  Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun-packed week!

8 weeks...and counting

* * * * * * *

We had our 32 week check up yesterday...and everything is looking good.  Jake had the day off (we are LOVING bank holidays!)  so he got to come this time. We were lucky enough to get another ultrasound (because we have a new doctor).  Sadly, we didn't get to take any pictures home...but it was still very fun to see her!
She is measuring a little big.  All the measurements put her at 33-34 weeks.  So, according to the ultrasound our due date is Dec. 30
Since its not a full two weeks ahead of our Jan. 8 due date...we don't get to officially move it up- but at least we know there is a little better chance of her coming early :)

...which may be a very good thing.
I'm definately getting huge.
(oh, and sorry about the bad quality photos...our camera isn't working too well)

HaPpY HaLlOwEeN!

We found a huge pumpkin patch just a few blocks away from our house and thought it was great.  We figured it would be fun to find one there...and thought..."they are home grown so we'll probably save a little by buying here."  What a bonus.
We waited in line for probably a half hour...and then ran to the grocery store real quick to pick up some treats and noticed their pumpkins were only 6 cents/pound rather than 21...
oh well.  The search was still fun.
Plus we got that priceless picture of Jake...isn't he a good sport?

We went over to some friends house and carved pumpkins and ate yummy food.
This is how ours turned out...not too shabby :)

Mom threw a halloween party like only she can.
It was a lot of fun!
She of course went all out with decorations...food...games...the works.

Jake was "Max"
Lindsey was a "Wild Thing"
